Justice for All : Enhancing Accessibility, Fighting Impunity

Description

The overall objective of the programme of which this contract will be part is to promote an equitable access to justice and its efficient enforcement for all citizens in general and poor and disadvantaged people, including women, children, minorities, indigenous people, and human rights and social activists, in particular.
The specific objectives are:
To increase the accessibility of the civil and criminal justice systems to the poor and disadvantaged by empowering claim-holders to seek and achieve remedies through enhanced legal awareness and assistance and by capacitating duty-bearers to provide these remedies through a more responsive administration of formal and informal justice;
To improve the ability of the criminal justice system to address the issue of impunity of major human rights violations by strengthening law enforcement, prosecution and judiciary capacities for the prevention, investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of the crimes of Extra-Legal Killings (ELKs) and Enforced Disappearances (EDs);
To enhance the accountability of the justice system stakeholders by reinforcing and coordinating internal and external bodies and mechanisms in charge of the monitoring and oversight of the justice system in relation to access to justice and the prevention and repression of ELKs and EDs.
